Lightline mirrors are comprised of three essential elements: a fluorescent light, a sheet of translucent plexiglas, and a 1/8" mirror. One or more lines have been etched into the silvering on the backside of the mirror; this etching allows a small amount of light to pass through the mirror,, generating a concentrated, razor-thin line of light on the mirror's surface. The light is bright enough to generate ambient light in a dark room, but nearly disappears when the fixture is turned off.
